Quoting an article recently published regarding financial institutions funding the fossil fuel industry, Howard Fisher, CEO of Basso Capital Management had this to say “To put it simply, you’re either funding fossil fuel extraction or not. Big banks fund big oil, big oil funds lobbyists, lobbyists control policy and hold the key to environmental policy change.”
In the last 4 years a collective 35 banks throughout the world have contributed 2.7 trillion dollars to the fossil fuel industry, the top 5 donors being @chase, @wellsfargo, @citi, @bankofamerica, and @rbc. It’s important for everyone to understand who they are supporting through their financial institution choices.
