The BBQ's x BELAY's x BEER's event in Joshua Tree is officially open for registration! GSG has booked out 3 weekends this Fall, 2017 in Joshua Tree National Park, at the Indian Cove campground and we want you to come out and climb and camp with us! Each weekend will consist of 2 nights camping, 2 days of climbing and 1 meal and refreshments (Saturday night) provided by Golden State Guiding and Saint Archer Brewery. Sierra Classic Gets Tick'd!
GSG Ambassador Orion Feist and GSG Guide Allison Terray took full advantage of the last days of summer this past weekend by ticking off this Sierra classic, Fishook Arete on Mount Russell. Temps were frigid but the stoke was high! Nice send you two!

Golden State Guiding Welcomes Jordan Cannon to the GSG Guide Family
Golden State Guiding is proud to announce the newest addition to our guide family, Jordan Cannon. Jordan is a certified AMGA Single Pitch Instructor and Wilderness First Responder based out of Bishop, CA. Between living on the road and climbing full time Jordan will be actively pursuing a fulfilling career as a guide and furthering his skill set by enrolling in the AMGA Rock Guide course the coming year. Another great day out at the local crag with stellar company for the GSG x Vertical Hold, Mission Gorge outing and G2C (Gym 2 Crag) wrap up. Fun climbs, first rappels and projects being added to the tick lists, what else could you ask for?
Dialing In Your Systems // Top Managed Sites // Mt. Woodson
When you have clients/friends like these guys it makes your days out that much more rewarding. Brothers Mark and Matt Altman spent the better half of the day learning top site managed systems, mock leading with gear and climbing some really good crack. Always fulfilling to witness people breaking barriers and growing as individuals.
GSG x Vertical Hold Climbing Gym Day Outdoors // Mt. Woodson
Golden State Guiding teamed up with partner Vertical Hold Climbing Gym for two days of outdoor rock climbing in San Diego for the month of July. Our first outing took place at Mt. Woodson this past Sunday and it sure was hot! Nevertheless we took to the hill and had a great time on some classic cracks! Here, experienced climber Brian Rau demonstrates his stoke for the sport. It was all tape gloves and smiles out there!
Girls Leadership Program // Mission Gorge
Guiding can be such a fulfilling way of life. Golden State Guiding had the privilege of taking out a Girls Leadership Program yesterday at Mission Gorge. The girls learned fundamental skills for climbing outdoors, sent some great rock climbs and completed an adrenaline filled rappel to top the day of with. It was awesome to see the girls push through mental barriers and conquer goals they set out to achieve. Great job to everyone on the hill yesterday!
G2C May Clinic Series Wrap Up // Mission Gorge
Well that officially wraps up the first round of G2C (Gym 2 Crag) with Golden State Guiding and Vertical Hold Climbing Gym! Thanks to all of our participants that signed up for a month of outdoor climbing education and fun! We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome and progress each of you had! G2C May Clinic Series Outdoor Day // Mt. Woodson
Another HOT but great day out on Woodson for the G2C day outdoors! Many more firsts were had including everyone's first time on a rope outdoors, some great crack climbing and multiple reviews on how to build an anchor utilizing bolts. Thanks to all who came out and supported the cause! It was another memorable day!
G2C May Clinic Series Outdoor Day Kick Off!
We kicked off the first round of outdoor rock climbing with the May G2C participants this past weekend at Mt. Woodson and Joshua Tree. We put our newly acquired skills to the test, climbed some fun routes and had lots of laughs along the way! Many firsts were had including some great crack climbing, first rappels, hardest grades being sent and we even had our first traditional Lead climb go down! Thanks to everyone who came out and participated in the first round of the G2C. We're looking forward to the next couple weekends outdoors as we wrap up the first round so stayed tuned!

And that's a wrap! We've officially finished up the first round of the G2C clinic series being hosted by Vertical Hold. Thanks to all our participants who came out 4 consecutive weeks to learn how to safely and efficiently build top rope anchors, rappel, learn self rescue techniques and lead climb outdoors. The only thing left to do is put your newly acquired skill sets to the test outdoors which we'll be doing this month! Thanks to everyone who came out, it was a blast having you all!
