Dixon Lake plays host to a small outcropping of granite boulders in North East San Diego and is ideal for the intermediate climber looking to place some gear on traditional climbs or work on technical applications such as gear anchors, rappelling, self rescue, etc. Similar in height to Mount Woodson climbs, Lake Dixon doesn't have the longest routes in the climbing world but what it lacks in height it makes up for in quality. Many of the classics at Dixon Lake hold a 3 star rating which is quite respectable. Being an east county San Diego location Lake Dixon can get hot in the summer months but is still a spot that can be climbed year round.
