Allison Terray // AMGA Assistant Rock Guide // WFR // GSG Guide
Currently based out of San Diego, CA, Allison is an avid outdoor enthusiast with a big passion for climbing in the mountains. She grew up in a coastal New England town where she learned to sail, swim, ski and hike at an early age. In college, she pursued swimming but only until she discovered rock climbing. Having lived and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad, Allison’s knowledge of rock extends from bouldering Buttermilks V8 to trad climbing New River Gorge 5.12 to various long free and alpine climbs in Yosemite, Red Rocks, The Eastern Sierra and New Hampshire. Her specialty comes in the form of technical face climbs and finger cracks, but she’s pretty psyched to climb almost anything. When she’s not guiding in Joshua Tree, Allison spends her free time honing skills in every alpine discipline and you can often find her climbing vertical ice and telemark skiing in the winter season. She guides for the pure joy of giving people new and exciting experiences in the vertical world. Allison holds a B.S. from the U.S. Naval Academy and a M.S. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Oceanography and Ocean Engineering, respectively. She also works as a commissioned Naval Officer, specializing in oceanography.
